Every Airbus A380 Destination Mapped
I’m almost ashamed to admit that I have yet to fly on an Airbus A380. Over the past couple of years I have almost bent over backwards to fly on one, but something always prevented it. From award availability to my necessity to book crazy layovers, I just haven’t been able to make it work.
While I have seen countless A380 aircraft from the outside, the plane still fascinates me. Will 2015 be the year I finally get to fly on one? I certainly hope so, but who knows. What I do know is that I am slightly infatuated with the aircraft and thus love to learn more about it.
Airbus A380 Route Map & History
The other day I was scrolling through my Twitter feed and saw that Airbus had posted a link to their A380 route map and history. It turned out to be a great resource.
While the map is very intuitive and easy to navigate, I was a little disappointed that they don’t list the airlines operating each route. So it will take a little guesswork, but it isn’t all too difficult to figure out which airline fly where.
Of course, for me the map was just the appetizer with the history section becoming the main course. Sure I already know a lot about the plane, but the Airbus page contains some interesting statistics and a full history of the aircraft starting with the first delivery in 2007 to Singapore Airlines. It is definitely worth a look and read!

I really want to take my wife on one in First Class so she can experience it at least once.

I still love flying on the 747s. Last year I chose to fly in Business Class on a Cathay Pacific 747-400, just so I could experience the upper deck. I’m glad I did since those planes are quickly being phased out. I can’t find a route map for 747s, however there is this cool history site.

Fewer and fewer of these classics left flying. SQ has phased out its fleet, CX and QF are phasing theirs out, TG substituted a 777 for my last 744 booking (and downgraded me from F to J). BA, AF, LH, UA and DL are holdouts still flying them on select routes, with LH the only one who made a commitment into the next decade by purchasing the 748i (which I did get to fly last month in F, returned from the upper deck to the nose). Given their lengthy service some of us could hardly begin to record our flights on these queens of the air, but I’m pretty sure I’ve sampled F on just about every major legacy airline that has flown the 747 over almost 40 years of flying.
