Airline Pilots Union Plans Picketing at 13 Major Airports
The Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA) will picket at major U.S. airports this coming Thursday. The organized picketing is a call for airlines to improve operations and reduce flight delays and cancellations.
ALPA is planning informational picketing at 13 locations across the United States right before the Labor Day holiday weekend. All ALPA pilots are invited to join any location.
“On September 1, we’re asking all ALPA pilots to join us for an ALPA-wide informational picket to show the public, our lawmakers, and our airlines that all airline pilots stand together in support of the profession-wide goal of improved working conditions and benefits,” ALPA said in its announcement.
Picketing will take place in blocks of two hours each at Atlanta, Boston, Chicago O’Hare, Detroit, New York JFK, Las Vegas, LAX, Minneapolis-St. Paul, Washington Reagan National, Orlando, Salt Lake City, San Francisco and Seattle airports.
This nationwide informational picket will not disrupt any flight on September 1, 2022. This informational picket is not a strike, but will take place at visible locations at those chosen airports. The pilots will likely be joined by Association of Flight Attendants members and possibly other allies.
