Airlines Issue Travel Waivers As Tropical Storm Elsa Hits Florida
Several airlines have issued travel waivers for flights in and out of Florida this week as Tropical Storm Elsa landed in the state today. The waivers issued, allow all passengers to change their flight without incurring a change fee or, in many cases, having to pay the difference in fare.
Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, American Airlines, JetBlue, Spirit Airlines, and Frontier Airlines all have issued advisories for several cities in Florida, including Key West, Fort Myers, Sarasota, Tampa, Ft. Lauderdale, Miami, and Orlando.
Delta Air Lines has issued a waiver for four airports, including Fort Meyers, Key West, Sarasota and Tampa . It applies to customers traveling to, from or through those cities from July 6-7. Tickets must be reissued on or before July 10, and rebooked travel must begin no later than July 10. A difference in fare may apply for later dates.
American Airlines is also waiving change fees for travelers passing through Fort Myers, Key West, Sarasota and Tampa through July 7. Rebooked travel must begin by July 12 to avoid paying the fare difference.
United Airlines’ change fee waiver covers Fort Myers, Key West, Sarasota and Tampa as well as Fort Lauderdale, Miami, West Palm Beach and Orlando. United’s change fee and any difference in fare will be waived changed flights departing by July 14 as long as travel is rescheduled in the originally ticketed cabin and between the same cities as originally ticketed.
