Alaska Airlines Making Several Negative Changes
Alaska Airlines is making a few changes that won’t be welcomed by many Atmos Rewards members. The updates include higher fees on partner award tickets and reduced earning on Saver fares.
Starting July 1, 2026, Atmos Rewards will increase its partner award booking fee from $12.50 to $20 per person, each way. So if you’re booking for two people for example, it would cost you an extra $80 for round-trip flights.
The airline is also raising its call center booking fee for new award reservations made over the phone from $15 to $30 per person beginning July 2, 2026. You can see the announcement here.
Alaska is also making a negative change to Saver fares (X class). Currently, these tickets earn 30% of miles flown. However, Saver fares booked on or after June 11, 2026 and flown on or after August 1, 2026 will no longer earn Atmos Rewards points or status points.
Even though Saver fares won’t earn redeemable points or elite-qualifying points, flights in X class on Alaska or Hawaiian will still count toward Million Miler status based on 100% of the actual distance flown.
