Condor Airlines, a New Mileage Plan Partner

Alaska Airlines announced yesterday that Condor Airlines would be its newest partner, giving members of its award-wining Mileage Plan more opportunities to earn and use miles on flights to Europe.

Alaska Airlines and Condor Airlines already had an “interline agreement,” which allowed the two airlines to connect passengers between carriers, from Europe and North America.

Condor flies nonstop to Frankfurt, Germany from Seattle; San Diego; Las Vegas, Portland, Oregon, Anchorage and Fairbanks, Alaska; and Vancouver, British Columbia. Starting in June, Condor will expand to more cities with new nonstop Seattle-Munich service, bringing the number of North American cities it serves to 16. Alaska travelers arriving on Condor flights to Frankfurt and Munich can connect to more than 75 destinations across Europe, Africa and Asia.

Condor, Germany’s third largest carrier, is known for its excellent customer service, low fares and modern fleet of Boeing 767-300 aircraft which offers business, premium and economy classes of service.

Earning on Condor

Base miles earned and cabin bonuses on Condor count toward Alaska Airlines elite status. Condor earned flight miles are based on the cabin type, not the fare class. Here’s what you’ll earn:

Cathay Pacific earned flight miles table
Cabin Base miles earned Cabin bonus Additional bonus
Business Class 100% 100% 100%
Premium Economy 100% 25%
Economy Flex 100%
Economy Base 75%
Economy Promotion 50%

Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan members can earn anywhere from 50% EQM on Economy, to to 200% on Business class. Existing Alaska Mileage Plan members can start earning miles immediately. Redemption for award travel will begin at a later date

Keep in mind that this new partnership only covers Condor flights.

Conclusion

This is a good development that surely adds value to Alaska’s MilagePlan program. You’ll get more earning opportunities redemption options soon on transatlantic flights. You can fly to lots of destinations once you get to Germany, but as mentioned above, only actual Condor flights will earn you Alaska miles.

I’ve never flown Condor personally. Have you? Let us know what you think!
