New Partnership Between American Airlines and China Southern
American Airlines and Asia’s largest carrier China Southern have announced a new frequent flyer partnership. The new arrangement will give American’s AAdvantage and China Southern’s Sky Pearl Club members the ability to earn and redeem miles on each other’s flights. The news comes almost two years after American Airlines paid $200 million for a stake in China Southern Airlines back in 2017.
Earn AAdvantage Miles with China Southern
Elite qualifying and redeemable miles earning for passengers already went into effect March 21, and online availability is planned to be introduced later this year. Phone reservations agents at American already have the ability to book China Southern flights. You will not earn Elite qualifying dollars when the flight is marketed by China Southern.

Conclusion
This partnership between American Airlines and China Southern should open up more possibilities for AAdvantage members. You’ll be able to redeem and earn miles on some new route that weren’t previously covered by American Airlines or One World partners. Only Business and Economy awards are available for now.
