American Airlines Memorial Day Sale: Flights For Under $200 Roundtrip

American Airlines sent out an email to members yesterday with some sub $200 flights for their Memorial Day weekend sale.  They also offered some deals for summer travel as well.  Let’s take a look.

Terms & Conditions

*Fares under $199 round trip

  • Fares are subject to change.
  • Valid for reservations made in the US for flights originating in the contiguous 48 U.S. states to select US destinations.
  • Valid only on flights operated by American Airlines and American Eagle. Not valid on codeshare flights.
  • Prices include all U.S. government taxes and carrier-imposed fees for travel.
  • Seats and days are limited. Fares may vary by destination, flight, date and day of week.
  • Travel may be available for Basic Economy non-refundable fare. Seat assignments made during check-in.
  • Applies only to published, scheduled service. Schedules subject to change.
Booking flexibility:
  • No more change fees for all domestic and short-haul international flying on Premium Cabin, Premium Economy and Main Cabin fares.
  • We also eliminated change fees for First, Business, Premium Economy and Main Cabin tickets for all long-haul international flights originating in North or South America for tickets issued on or after November 19, 2020.
  • If your travel plans change, you can keep the full value of your original ticket but will need to pay the fare difference if your new flight is more expensive. If your new flight is less expensive, you’ll get the fare difference in the form of travel credit to use on a future trip.
  • Fly standby for free on earlier domestic flights, including Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, to the same destination on the same day.
  • The benefits above do not apply to Basic Economy, but customers who buy Basic Economy fares may now buy extras on the day of their travel like upgrades, seats, priority boarding and same-day flight changes.
  • AAdvantage® elite members may apply their travel benefits on all tickets, including on Basic Economy fares.

Final Thoughts

Whenever their are published sales like this there are usually even more options not listed.  It appears American Airlines is a little light on passenger loads for Memorial Day weekend so it may be a good time to check some domestic flights.  Let us know if you find or book anything in the comments below.
