American Express Membership Rewards Adds New Transfer Partner
American Express and Avianca Airlines announced that Card Members enrolled in the Membership Rewards program can transfer Membership Rewards® points to Avianca with LifeMiles, the loyalty program of Avianca Airlines, at a 1:1 ratio.
Avianca Airlines joins 17 other participating Membership Rewards® frequent flyer programs, including Delta, British Airways, and Emirates. It is the newest airline partner for Membership Rewards® since Aer Lingus was announced in August 2018.
The LifeMiles program gets you great value when booking Star Alliance award tickets. It is one of the few mileage programs that doesn’t collect fuel surcharges. A trip to Europe in Business class for example will cost you 63,000 LifeMiles. Shorthaul Economy class within the US starts at just 7,500 LifeMiles one-way.
Conclusion
Having more transfer partners for your American Express Membership Rewards points is also good news. It makes your points more versatile and more valuable. LifeMiles especially should be great news to many people.
