Done! Maybe The Optimal Method for the Best Amex Member Week Offer

Amex Member Week Offer

Amex Member Week Offer

I hope you were paying attention last week.  Amex unleashed a variety of unique offers as part of Member Week which required registration by 21 March.  These aren’t as noteworthy as previous years’ versions, according to my firmly-middle-aged memory.  But keen observers can find ways to come out ahead with at least one Amex Member Week offer, and maybe more.  DDG covered the highlights last week, but today I’m focusing on what I consider the best of them all from Lowe’s.  And maximizing it is a cinch.

Lowe’s Amex Member Week Offer

With the Lowe’s Amex Member Week offer, an enrolled Amex business cardholder can earn $50 back on $200 in qualifying purchases at lowes.com or at Lowe’s by 31 March 2025.  More specifically, the terms note this offer requires a minimum of $200 spent on “one or more qualifying purchases,” giving cardholders a bit more flexibility to aggregate this spend over multiple purchases.  That’s fine and dandy, but my preference for using this offer only entails one.  Let’s get into it.

Amex Member Week’s not over as long as you’ve already enrolled in the offers.

My Preference for this Amex Member Week Offer

I immediately knew how I would trigger this Lowe’s offer.  After enrolling, I swung by my local Lowe’s while completing other errands last week.  I beelined to pretty much the only item location I know by heart in Lowe’s – the gift card endcap.  Our location has a variety of gift cards to choose from – not as much as a grocery stores, but plenty enough.  This includes Visa or Mastercard gift cards, something I’ve historically found quite useful.

But we’ve gravitated to one gift card type at Lowe’s more recently during such offers.  I grab a Kroger gift card, pay, and go.  By doing so, my wife and I effectively discounted $200 of grocery spend by 25%.  I found this especially useful back when I could stack this type of a deal by buying third party gift cards with Kroger gift cards, but we’re fine using it on not-as-dorky, normal grocery shopping.  Indeed, Kroger’s where we mainly pick up groceries, anyway.  That’s key because we’ve effectively used this Lowe’s offer without unnecessarily spending.  In my view, promos, offers, and deals are generally self-defeating when they entice individuals to spend when they wouldn’t otherwise.

So my recommendations is visit your local Lowe’s and pick up a third party gift card for wherever you normally spend most.  Whatever floats your boat – Amazon, Disney, your favorite chain restaurant, etc.  You’re simply saving $50 on your next $200 of normal purchases with that store or service.  Of course, if you don’t need $200 at any one retailer, mix and match cards to total exactly $200 for the Lowe’s purchase.  Obviously, if you have normal pending purchases at Lowe’s, anyway, those can obviously take priority over any gift card minutiae.

Sure, you could buy a cash equivalent, but the fee that comes along with it bites into the Amex Member Week offer savings.  Even still, some may crunch the numbers and decide a Visa or Mastercard gift card works out better for them.

Despite the spotty speed in Amex credits lately, we’ve already received the $50 credit on this account from last week’s purchase.

Conclusion

Admittedly, I’m not recommending anything groundbreaking today.  But I often overthink angles in our points and travel hobby, and I’m confident I’m not alone.  This Lowe’s Amex member week offer is a helpful reminder that sometimes the optimal option is also the simplest one.  Just remember to make your Lowe’s purchase by 31 March.  Keep in mind the expiration dates for the other member week promos, as well.
