Save Up to 50% on Amazon When You Use MR Points
Amazon has a promotion for American Express cardmembers that can get you up to a 50% discount. This is a new targeted promotion, and there are different versions of the offer. It has now been extended through the end of June. Let’s take a look.
The Offer
Save 10%-50% on Amazon, up to $80 in savings, when you you purchase eligible products and use at least one Membership Rewards point as payment.
Here’s how it works:
- Link your Membership Rewards account if you haven’t already done so
- Go to promo page
- Click on the button below to activate this promotion credit. Note that you will NOT receive the credit unless you click on this button.
- Add eligible products sold and shipped by Amazon.com to your shopping cart (includes third party gift cards)
- Under “Choose a payment method,” select your Membership Rewards eligible American Express Card and pay for at least a portion of your order with Membership Rewards points (you can use just 1 MR point), then click “Use this payment method.”
- Savings will be reflected on the final order checkout page if the items in your order are eligible for the promotion credit

Never has worked for me
I got a new one for me…. Never had one so specific on the requirements:
Get 15% off eligible products when using a minimum of 714 Membership Rewards points.
Maximum discount $15.
I saw this for the first time in early June. Then never again (any version) stating “not eligible”. I keep hearing people having/using this discount multiple times. I actually never saw this before and clicked on a link provided on a thread which worked…but never available via email or AmEx Offer.

Didn’t work for me. The promotion link took me to amazon.com, but not to a promotion page . Tried anyway to buy an item using one MR point – no discount was applied, so didn’t go through with the purchase..
Strange I just checked both the buttons and it takes me to the promotion page to try to activate it.
Absolutely thanks for the headsup. Amex never notified me of this. Amazon never notified me. I needed a better mattress. Loaded a bed in the box and was offered 30 dollars off. This was a great deal for me

Still nothing on five cards linked to five accounts
I genuinely appreciate the heads up but when I got this offer before, I had substantial problems finding products sold by Amazon itself. I finally settled for Whole Foods gift cards, but that was rather weak sauce. Any suggestions on categories besides gift cards?
