Amex Platinum’s New Benefit is Actually a $50 Credit on Any Purchase
The Amex Platinum credit card has a new benefit that kicked off this month. You can get $100 in statement credits annually for purchases at Saks Fifth Avenue or saks.com. The credit comes in two parts, $50 for the first half of the year, and another $50 for the second half. You need to enroll first, before using your card. But this new benefit seems to work better than expected, at least for now.
$50 Credit on Any Purchase
Instead of just giving out the $50 credit for Saks Fifth Avenue purchases, Amex is giving the credit on all purchases on $50. That’s any purchase anywhere. There’s many data points on this reddit thread already. The credit takes about two days to post after a purchase is completed.
Conclusion
This is clearly a glitch from American Express. I expect for it to be fixed quickly. It’s also very likely that all $50 credits that were given out in error, will be clawed back. It still worth trying out, maybe by purchasing a $50 Amazon gift card.

I wondered why I had 2 credits this morning. One for $25 and one for $15.
I bought a $50 Delta Gift Card the other day and it triggered this credit automatically.
