Amex Premier Rewards Gold Card’s Latest Rumors

Earlier this week we posted news that some Amex Premier Rewards Gold cardholders got a nice surprise showing new earning rates and annual dining credit when logging into their online accounts. Several data points showed that only certain cardholders were seeing these changes. Doctor of Credit has reported that this new card structure may go into effect on October 4th, 2018.

Should You Wait to Sign Up?

As Doctor of Credit points out, there’s no right answer because there are too many unknown variables. First, it’s possible the annual fee is raised to $250, or the fee is no longer waived the first year, there may be a statement credit for restaurants as part of the welcome offer. There’s also no way of knowing what the bonus amount will be.

If you decided to play it safe and lock in the current offer you will at least protect yourself from any risk of having to pay the annual fee until year 2.  Another reason to apply now is if you are targeted for the 50K Welcome Offer through CardMatch. You can check here.

  1. No good to me – I’m over seas 10 – 11 months a year. Even the chain restaurants mentioned in the article don’t count over seas.
