Targeted Spending Bonuses for SPG Cardholders
American Express is targeting some SPG personal and business cardholders with an offer to earn extra points for regular spending.
The Offers
- SPG Card – Earn 10,000 bonus points when spending $4,000 and an additional 5,000 bonus points when spending an additional $2,000. Must register by October 31, 2018 and spending must be completed by November 30, 2018.
- SPG Business Card – Earn 20,000 bonus points after each $10,000 you spend in eligible purchases, up to 40,000 total points, starting from the time you complete enrollment through 12/06/2018 (Link to offer)
Conclusion
We have seen several spending bonuses form American Express recently. These are targeted bonuses that either show up on your account online, or are sent out by email. With the personal SPG card you can earn an extra 2.5X on your everyday spending and the business card could earn you an extra 2X bonus points.

I got a slightly different offer: “Register and earn 15,000 bonus points after spending $6,000 in eligible purchases an additional 5,000 bonus points after spending an additional $3,000 in eligible purchases on your Card starting from the time you complete registration through November 30, 2018 (“Purchase Period”).
Can this be stacked with initial spend requirement for a new card?

Yep received same offer. Saw it in Amex offers yesterday and received an email today
They must already be seeing the spending crater on these cards since cutting the earn rate by 1/3 and are probably panicking to create some incentives to spend. I know, just from my circle of friends, these SPG cards went from people’s main card to absolute zero spend.
