I’m always torn between intense annoyance and amusement when people invent rules for the middle seat. I suppose they mean well but let’s stop pretending that the way they want things remotely constitutes “Rules” and good luck getting your unwilling neighbor to abide by them, them being more likely to go all Spirit on you for addressing them on the finer points of etiquette. Since my wife insists on the window seat I’m often in the middle so this is less theoretical than you might think.
