Amsterdam raises tourist tax to the ‘highest in Europe’ – CNN Travel

Amsterdam is tired of the overtourism it is seeing in its smaller city so maybe this is a way to get people to think twice.  But at €3 per person per night it isn’t the end of the world.  That is on top of their 7% nightly tax as well.  It could add up on longer trips with multiple guests.  I love myself some Amsterdam, especially the canal tours, and can not wait to go back.  A few Euro won’t keep me away!

The full history of Amtrak’s iconic dining cars, which the company says it is removing to cater to millennial whims – Business Insider

I don’t take Amtrak often because I don’t wanna end up like Shawn did his last trip.  But if millennials don’t like dining cars they are morons.  Sorry – no way around it.  But Amtrak is probably trying to adapt and survive at this point and I doubt many young people travel via train.  Social media has killed our social skills out in the real world and leads to people not wanting to interact with others in dining cars etc.  Social media even started a sexual recession in Japan.

American man dies during underwater marriage proposal in Tanzania – NBC News

I don’t know which story was more tragic this week, Cancun’s Police Chief being decapitated or this one.  They are looking into whether or not there was an issue with the oxygen tank or not.  Just a sad story on what was a pretty romantic idea.  I have always wanted to stay in a hotel where the room is underwater like that but I don’t plan on swimming on the outside of it anytime soon.
