  1. If they made the penalty for trying to bring a gun on a plane sufficiently harsh and removed any exceptions, people would stop “forgetting” to leave their guns at home. A lifetime No-Fly membership with probable jail time and a large fine should quickly drop the incidents by over 90%. The problem is that this is a serious crime that’s not being handled like a crime, so people keep doing it. Remember the Congressman who tried to sneak a gun onto his flight earlier this year and faced zero consequences? That won’t do much to halt further attempts.
    I’ll get off my soap box now, but anyone trying to bring a gun on a commercial flight has terrible judgement to begin with and a person with rotten judgement on my flight, with a gun, is a disaster waiting to happen.
