I try to avoid renting cars at all costs. Mostly because it is a hassle but also because these companies are worse than used car salespeople. Even if it was a few hours late how crazy is it that the price triples for a few hours. I find it really surprising that stuff like this is allowed in Germany.

There are many reports of Hertz Germany charging for seemingly minor damage. They tried to accuse me but then saw that there was a sticker in the trunk stating a previous minor scratch was already there several months before I rented.
Crazy that they are still allowed to operate with this many reports of b.s. charges.
