The suite upgrade piece had me loling…perhaps because my husband and I just spent 3 nights at The Alila Ventana Big Sur on points … we booked when it was still 30,000. I earned Globalist status last year with the promo, and when I checked in online, I was asked if I wanted The Cottage. At first, I was so shocked, I didn’t know what to do. For those who have never stayed, The Cottage is a stand alone building at the top of the property. After I came to my senses, I accepted, and when we arrived, the upgrade had, in fact, been for real. The stay was unbelievable, and I won’t elaborate since so many have already done that. I had emailed the concierge a couple of weeks in advance that if a Globalist upgrade was available, I’d love to have it so, not sure if this helped or not. We also stayed Mon-Thurs. We will be saving our points for a return visit.
