Bilt Rewards to End Partnership with American Airlines
Bilt Rewards and American AAdvantage are set to end their partnership by June 2024, marking the end of seamless transfers from Bilt Rewards Points to American Airlines AAdvantage miles. The initial report, highlighted by View from the Wing, sheds light on this upcoming change.
While the specific termination date remains undisclosed at this point, users are encouraged to stay tuned for further updates. The news of this impending shift prompts users to reconsider their strategies for maximizing rewards and mileage accumulation.
In response to the report, Bilt has officially confirmed the conclusion of their partnership with American Airlines. In a statement to VFTW, they provided the following statement:
Bilt and American have agreed to wind down our partnership beginning in June. We appreciate everything we’ve been able to accomplish together since Bilt’s launch in 2021.
Transferring Bilt Points to American Airlines might not have ranked as the preferred option for many Bilt Rewards members. Bilt boasts a range of valuable partners, including valuable programs such as Hyatt, but also other major airline programs such as United, Air Canada, and Air France/KLM. Notably, some of these programs have offered enticing transfer bonuses, reaching up to 150%.
However, what set Bilt apart as a program was its exclusive ability to facilitate point transfers to American Airlines. American Airlines doesn’t feature on the transfer partner list for other major programs.
While the conclusion of the Bilt and American AAdvantage collaboration is certainly bad news, hopefully it leads to American Airlines working with Citi to make become a permanent transfer partner in the ThankYou Points porogram.
