Book Southwest Flights Through Chase Travel Portal
Here’s an interesting development for Southwest Airlines fans. You can now book Southwest flights through the Chase Ultimate Rewards travel portal.
One of the downsides of the portal is that you can’t book flights on several low-cost carriers online. You would have to call in order to book with some airlines. But now Southwest at least, is showing up in search results.
While Southwest is finally bookable on the Chase travel portal, it’s worth noting that not all fares classes are available. It seems like you will only see results for Wanna Get Away and Wanna Get Away Plus fares. And even then, they will not show up on all routes and dates. Furthermore, pricing might be different from what you would find when searching directly on the Southwest website.
Booking through the Chase travel portal has its advantages. With a card like Chase Sapphire Reserve for example, you get a value of 1.5 cents for your Ultimate Rewards points. And since these are considered cash bookings, you will also earn miles. Additionally, when booking with cash, you can earn 5X Ultimate Rewards points with several credit cards.
It’s also worth noting that Southwest’s Rapid Rewards program is a Ultimate Rewards travel partners. So you also have the option of transfer points and booking award fares directly with Southwest.

I looked also; seems like Chase’s system is nonrefundable, and not in a Southwest kind of way – I get the impression you’d lose all the money if you cancel (after 24 hours). SWA puts the money back into your account as a credit. So I, too, will stick with SWA’s site.
Interesting… I just did a comparison on a flight I was looking at from LGB – STL.
SWA WEB site prices it out at $146. Chase’s Travel portal prices it out at $166. Both are Wanna Get Away fares.
I don’t think the 830 Chase pts I’d get booking the higher fare (using the CSR card) is worth the extra $20. $0.0241 per point. I think I’ll pass.
Could be useful on other flights though.
