Caesars Diamond No Longer Gets You to MGM Gold
If you’re looking to get MGM status once again this year through your Caesars Diamond status, you might have noticed a negative change.
Caesars Diamond used to match to MGM Gold. But as the new membership year started on February 1st, you can only match Caesars Diamond to MGM Pearl. Besides the lower tier, there’s also a new limit of just five months of status.
Here’s what the MGM Rewards Tier Match website shows now:
- DIAMOND & DIAMOND PLUS: advance to MGM Rewards Pearl tier
- DIAMOND ELITE & SEVEN STAR: advance to MGM Rewards Platinum tier
If you were planning to match to Hyatt, then MGM Pearl only gets you Discoverist, while MGM Gold would have gotten you Explorist.
And on the top of the page you will notice the following:
Present your eligible card at any MGM Rewards Desk between February 1, 2023 and June 30, 2023, and enjoy elevated Tier Match Status and benefits through June 30, 2023. (If you received a Tier Match prior to February 1, 2023, you will need to visit the MGM Rewards desk to rematch your Tier Status.)
To extend your Tier Match Status through January 31, 2025, earn 20,000 Tier Credits (for Pearl), 75,000 Tier Credits (for Gold) or 200,000 Tier Credits (for Platinum) between January 1, 2023 and June 30, 2023.
So once you match to MGM you will only have status through June 30, 2023.

Well, my recently matched (Hyatt Explorist) MGM Gold card bears the date June 2023. That’s pretty clear.
Even so, the card-issuer at the hotel in Las Vegas made an error regarding the date.
I can confirm, MGM is no longer matching Caesars Diamond to MGM Gold. I only got matched to Pearl. In Vegas right now and I wasn’t matched to MGM Gold.
If you got on the Status Match Merry-Go-Round before the change, you should have had Wyndham Diamond, Caesar’s Diamond, MGM Gold and Hyatt Explorist. Wyndham and Caesar’s still match; MGM and Hyatt still match. You can still keep it going with these matches (Wyndham- Caesar’s; MGM-Hyatt) . If you are just starting, the only thing you lose is your status with MGM and Hyatt will be down to Pearl for MGM and Discoverist with Hyatt. You can still keep the match going between those four.
Yeah the only exception is matched Wyndham status doesn’t give the celebration dinner.
It shows I got it and my wife did, too (she just got it today and I got it last week). Caesar’s is known to be less than consistent so YMMV. We did match with Wyndham status but it was the business card which, to my understanding, gets an exception to how they view it.
Neither does the March to MGM Gold – have to earn 75,000 tier credits to get it
I have only been dong this since 2022 and, even than, no free MGM lunch. . . literally.
Beavis you’re a life saver! Can confirm matching back from Hyatt does work. Currently staying at an MGM property in Vegas, arrived with comped rooms to find out I can’t match Caesars Diamond to MGM Gold anymore (which leaves me on the hook for resort fees). Found this post and successful matched Hyatt Explorist back to MGM Gold. Thank you!!
You should be able to match your MGM gold to Wynn and to Hard Rock (formerly MGM’s Mirage). Do not go to the Hard rock Cafe as they cannot do the match. I have not done this yet, but my understanding is Wynn will give you a $150 dinner credit plus some other perks. Now that you are on the merry-go-round, do not let it lapse as there is no easy path back on short of actually qualifying with organic spend.
I confused myself. Wynn quit status matching in 2021.
Does not apply to Hyatt status matches
Business as usual
Just did it myself 🙂
I have MGM Gold but lost my Ceasars Diamond. Will Ceasars match me up to Diamond with my MGM Gold status? If so how?
I’ve heard mixed things. I know they will in Atlantic City but am not sure if they are doing it in Vegas still.
@momsinc – I wouldn’t count on the 1/24 date on the care. I also did the match on 2/1 and spent the weekend in Tunica MS. Went to Gold Strike (MGM but in process of selling it) and printed new gold card. Website and card show 1/24 but MGM can downgrade all of us easily in June. What is on the card means nothing. The system will still show no (or lower) status if the systems wipe out matches. Obviously I hope to extend through the year and be able to rematch in the future but I’ve seen too much about MGM (following Caesar’s lead) cutting out matches like this.
BTW Atlantic City is a unique market in that I’ve found I could often match my Caesars Diamond Plus to MGM gold that isn’t done in Las Vegas. AC is very competitive and the casinos there are always trying to take customers from the others.
Ugh! Will keep fingers crossed as I said! Also tried to redo my Caesars back to Diamond from my MGM Gold, but they said it was only new members….strange because I’ve done it before. Perhaps, another casino will make it happen!
At Borgata today. Had done the match online with my Hyatt status. Just asked to have my new card printed since mine expired 1/31/23. Card was MGM Gold and expiration date was 1/2024. Fingers crossed.
MGM website says, Diamond Plus are matched to MGM GOLD.
Why would anyone believes bloggers or anyone with rumour? I matched again my WoH status to Gold and it is clearly written in app” Your Tier Credits reset to 0 on Jan1, 2024
Open Rewards, below the circle is More Info. Open it and look last sentence of that Tier Status Explained page.
Did the title say this has to do with Hyatt?
If you have Gold Status with MGM will Caesar’s match it
@Dave – I saw on another blog that MGM will revoke any match (including from Hyatt) as of 6/30 so expect it to go away then. I primarily play at Caesars (Diamond Plus or Diamond Elite based on gambling only) but status match to MGM from Hyatt. Just renewed Gold (and it took) but expect to lose it after 6/30. Will use until the. To status match at Hard Rock (former Mirage) in LV and get $100 free play plus stay at Nomad in June during WSOP w no resort fees. Adapter that gone and I will miss it.
The MGM – Hyatt relationship is intact as officially clarified by MGM. Status matches to other resorts will most likely end under the current management. Of course, the next set of management will have a great plan to implement status matching to steal their competitors’ guests as Resorts World and Hard Rock make inroads.
Does this new policy apply only to those who status match from another casino loyalty program, or does it apply to a match achieved from Hyatt as well? The language on their web site seems to imply that this change is applicable only from matches achieved from other casino programs.
Only from other casino programs.
