Capital One Will Be New Issuer of MLB Credit Cards
Bank of America has long been the issuer of Major League Baseball (MLB) credit cards. While these card never had huge bonuses, they were quite popular years back when you could get multiple welcome offers.
But, Bank of America has informed existing MLB cardholders in recent days that this partnership is ending. Major League Baseball Customized Cash Rewards credit cards will become either Bank of America Unlimited Cash Rewards or Customized Cash Rewards credit cards. The conversion would happen in mid-March, as first reported by Doctor of Credit.
Another big credit card issuer is taking over. MLB has reportedly turned to Capital One as a banking sponsor, who will also be its credit card issuer. This information comes from Sports Business Journal, which report that the Capital One deal will be officially unveiled when a new MLB collective bargaining agreement is completed.
This is yet another big move for Capital One who just days ago took over BJ’s Wholesale Club credit cards from Alliance Data Systems Corp (ADS).
