AAdvantage & MileagePlus Portal Promotions
I have written before about loyalty program portal promotions and how lucrative they can be. The last set of portal promotions we saw was back in August during back to school. Since most of the loyalty program portals are run by the same company (Cartera), we often see very similar promotions from each of the portals.
PDX Deals Guy let me know that he was targeted for an early preview of an upcoming United MileagePlus Shopping promotion. The deal still isn’t live for most members (including myself), but it should be live soon. Additionally, I was targeted for early access to a similar promotion from the AAdvantage portal. Here are the details of both promos.
United MileagePlus Shopping
Possible bonus:
- 500 bonus miles for qualifying purchases of at least $150
- 1,500 bonus miles for qualifying purchases of at least $350
- 3,000 bonus miles for qualifying purchases of at least $650
- 6,000 bonus miles for qualifying purchases of $1,250 or more
Promotion Dates:
- November 6, 2015 through November 24, 2015 at 11:59:59 pm ET
Analysis
This can be really great if you have purchases planned since the 6,000 miles equate to 4.8X per dollar on top of the normal portal payout. This is definitely a promotion I plan to take advantage of, even if I am not a huge fan of United.
AAdvantage eShopping
Possible bonus:
- 450 bonus miles for qualifying purchases of at least $150
- 2,000 bonus miles for qualifying purchases of at least $550
- 5,000 bonus miles for qualifying purchases of $1,200 or more
Promotion Dates:
- 11/8/15 through 11/26/15 at 11:59:59 pm ET
Analysis
This one isn’t quite as good as the United bonus with only a 4X per dollar bonus on the highest spending tier. Still it is a great deal and one that I probably will be taking advantage of as well.
More Portal Bonuses Coming?
As I mentioned, the same company runs both of these portals along with several others as well. In the past promotions like these have generally rolled out across several portals, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see bonuses from Alaska, Southwest and other brands. Time will tell, but I would guess the chances of that happening are pretty good.
Conclusion
Neither of these promotions are open to the public yet, however they both should be open to everyone within the next couple of days. I’ll be looking for temporary increases at my favorite merchants to stack with both of these promos. Happy shopping!

I got an early promo from Southwest…

[…] It’s the season again. Where Americans keep spending non stop for crap probably most could do with out. If you are into online buying I trust you do your shopping exclusively with the TBB Amazon link (hint, it’s the pink link above lol). But in case you are not, here are some holiday miles shopping promotions already for extra AAdvantage and United miles. […]
what do you intend to buy to earn these portal cashbacks ?
Skymiles Shopping is also running a similar promotion, although it is much worse than these. You can get 1500 miles for $500 worth of purchases.
Can we purchase target and ebay gift cards and get the bonus?
