CDC Says Unvaccinated Americans Should Not Travel this Weekend
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) wants unvaccinated Americans not to travel during the Labor Day holiday weekend.
“First and foremost, if you are unvaccinated, we would recommend not traveling,” Walensky said at a White House COVID-19 briefing on Tuesday, NPR reports.
The US is surpassing an average of 160,000 new cases a day, according to data from Johns Hopkins University. The surge is concerning officials and health experts.
Health experts have said that vaccination is the best way to protect against the virus’ spread. The recent spike in cases has been attributed to the large portion of Americans who are unvaccinated.
If you are not fully vaccinated and decide to travel within the U.S. anyway, the CDC recommends that you take the following precautions:
- Get tested 1-3 days before travel
- Get tested 3-5 days after travel and self-quarantine for 7 days. Self-quarantine for 10 days if you don’t get tested
- Self-monitor for symptoms
- Wear a mask and take other precautions during travel
But even if you are vaccinated, you should be aware of the risks. “We have actually articulated that people who are fully vaccinated and who are wearing masks can travel. Although, given where we are with disease transmission right now, we would say that people need to take these risks into their own consideration as they think about traveling,” CDC director Dr. Rochelle Walensky said.

Yes live your lives. Don’t get vaccinated it’s your right. Just don’t take up a hospital bed if fall ill from covid. Ivermectin and two Tylenol is all you need.
Unvaccinated and traveling this week. I exercise, take some vitamins and I am not overweight. this is all such BS, and anyone with even a little brain power knows it. Get out there and live!
I will just say that the CDC is an “non government organization” that is grabbing power that aren’t entitled to take. Laws are made on Capital Hill and CDC doesn’t have the right to mandate anything. The CDC actions they are making are violating our constitutional rights.
Is this blogger trying to tell unvaccinated not to travel or why post this? No big surprise that vaccinated are transmitting and will need a booster!
Don’t Australia Texas. They are building detention facilities “Down Under.”
Good news is that some “citizens” can now leave the house for 1 hour per day without being arrested…if you are vaccinated. These are HEALTHY PEOPLE.
Sad to see blogs like One Mile At A Time celebrating tyranny.
No wonder why Biden had a august 31st deadline, had to get those 100,000 + unvacced Afghans in before the new declaration.I wonder it there’s a exception for the thousands coming in from the southern border every day? Heard about the new MU variant in Columbia? Should be crossing our boarder any day now compliments of no-show Harris.
lol, what a clown show.
Unvaccinated, flew back from Qatar yesterday to the US.
Heading back to Europe next month.
I just ignore all of the government mandates and advisories, and live my life.
Yeah good luck w that one! First of all I am vaccinated and encourage everyone to get it. However I remember when the CDC made similar recommendations before vaccines were available and I, along w millions of others, continued to travel (and didn’t take the tests before or after).
Doubt this will make anyone change their plans since largely those most worried at COVID infection or that just follow the science have been vaccinated. The mouth breathers that haven’t aren’t about to change their plans. I mean if they listened to the CDC they would at least be vaccinated.
This is getting comical at this point.
