Cell Phone Carriers Adding Free Data & Waiving Fees
During this Covid-19 pandemic most people are self isolating, a cell phone is probably one of the most important things that keeps people sane and connected. Now some major cell phone carriers are doing their parts to make sure that people get something extra and are also waiving fees.
Verizon is offering new internet options for low-income households that are part of the Lifeline discount program. It is also adding 15GB of 4G LTE data to consumer and small business plans automatically. From March 25 through April 30, wireless consumer and small business customers will see an additional 15GB of data added to their plan for no additional charge. Verizon says it will not terminate service and waive late fees for now.
We already wrote about a new AT&T plan for gives you unlimited talk and text and 2GB of data. Additionally, AT&T says it won’t charge any customers extra for exceeding their data or calling allotments for now.
T-Mobile customers who have plans with data will automatically have unlimited smartphone data through May 13 (excluding roaming). No action is required on your part. LifeLine customers will extra free LTE data up to 5GB per month for each of the next two months. Also T-Mobile postpaid and Metro customers on plans with HotSpot data can add 20GB (10 GB / month for two months) of Smartphone Mobile HotSpot at no extra charge.
Conclusion
It is good to see these providers offers something extra without charging more. With many people also having financial difficulties, waived fees or no termination guarantees are also a big help.
