Chase Aeroplan Card New Pay Yourself Back Categories

The Chase Aeroplan Card is one of the Chase cards that has the Pay Yourself Back feature. This is an option for using points to cover select credit card purchases, giving cardmembers more flexibility to redeem the points they’ve earned.

In 2025, the Chase Aeroplan Card will offer five new Pay Yourself Back® redemption categories for cardmembers.

That includes:

  • NEW  Starting on April 1, Pay Yourself Back will be available for purchases at Home Improvement Stores and Gas Stations. Each point redeemed through Pay Yourself Back for a statement credit towards qualifying purchases in promotional categories is worth $.008. That means 12,500 points equals a $100 statement credit. Valid through December 31, 2025.
  • NEW – Beginning on July 1, Pay Yourself Back will be available for purchases at select department stores and on select utilities. Redemption values will be shared closer to launch and will be valid through December 31, 2025.
  • NEW – Right as holiday shopping season begins, starting on October 1Pay Yourself Back will be available for purchases on Amazon. Redemption values will be shared closer to launch and will be valid through December 31, 2025.

As you can see, with the new Home Improvement Stores and Gas Stations categories you only get a value of 0.8 cents per point, which is not great. Maybe the two other categories will provide better value, but I’m not too hopeful.

The above categories are in addition to the redemption options already available to Chase Aeroplan cardmembers:

  • Travel purchases, which includes hotels, car rentals, ride-shares, flights and more. Redemptions are at 1.25 cents per point (e.g. 8,000 points for $100 statement credit).
  • Annual Fee. Redemptions at 1.25 cents per point (e.g. 8,000 points for $100 statement credit).
  • Dining and Grocery. Redemption at 0.8 cents per point (e.g. 12,500 points for $100 statement credit).

Keep in mind that Aeroplan points may be redeemed for a statement credit using Pay Yourself Back for purchases made at select merchants within the 90 days before the redemption request date.
