Question: How Do I Get Chase Ultimate Rewards From My Ink Card?

Chase Sapphire Preferred 100K Welcome Offer

A few weeks ago we broke the news that the Chase Sapphire Preferred was bringing an increased welcome offer of 90K Ultimate Rewards points after $6K spend. While the bonus did hit 100K once before, this is a nice increase over the normal offer and one of the best offers on the card in its history. The 90K offer is now available, but there is a catch. It is in-branch only.

90K Sapphire Preferred – Coming Online Soon?

While the 90K welcome offer for the Sapphire Preferred is in-branch only now, the hope is it will eventually come to online channels including referrals. This has happened in the past, so my guess is we might see it happen again. This would be great since it would make it easier to apply and would also let people use referrals to earn more points.

A Better 100K Sapphire Preferred Offer

While 90K Ultimate Rewards is more than a solid welcome offer for the Sapphire Preferred, you might want to check your mailbox to see if you can do better. ToP is reporting that Chase is sending out a targeted 100K offer to some people which is actually better in every way.

Let’s compare them:

  • In-branch: 90K Ultimate Rewards after $6K spend
  • Targeted: 100K Ultimate Rewards after $4K spend

As you can see, if you are targeted then the 100K offer for the Chase Sapphire Preferred is superior.

Chase Sapphire Preferred Credit Card Review – The Ultimate Starter Card?

Referrals Can Make 90K Better?!

One thing to keep in mind is that if you have a spouse or partner with the card, then you can possibly play the referral game and do even better. For example, there won’t be any referral for signing up with the targeted 100K offer, but there may be one for the 90K offer if/when it moves out of branch exclusivity. If that happens the combined 90K sign-up bonus with a referral bonus could be more than 100K. Fun stuff to think about, but both of these offers are great.

Chase Sapphire Preferred 100K Welcome Offer – Bottom Line

Chase is sending out targeted 100K sign-up bonus offers to targeted customers who they want to sign-up for the Sapphire Preferred. They also have a public welcome offer of 90K for the same card in-branch only. We are hoping to see this 90K offer go wide, but we’ll have to wait and see. Either way this is a reminder that right now might be a time to consider the Sapphire Preferred if you are eligible for the bonus and think the card fits well within your card portfolio.

  1. Love to be able to add the Preferred to my arsenal, but I do enjoy my Reserve. With the $300 travel credit and a handful of discount/cash back offers that fit my situation, I can get back a lot of my AF.
But still…. I agonize over these huge SUBs that are not in my reach. You know any way a CSR holder can apply and have a chance?
