Chase Extends Limited Time Perks
During the pandemic, Chase has made it easier for cardmembers to take advantage of perks and benefits while travel has been out of reach for many. One of those benefits is the ‘Pay Yourself Back‘ option that lets you use Chase Ultimate Rewards for eligible charges on your Chase cards. This tool was rumored to end on April 30, but now Chase has announced yet another extension through September.
The good news is that he most popular categories are not changing. In fact there new interesting categories for business credit cards such as shipping and home improvement.
There are some other extensions and improvements such as the expanded use of the $300 annual travel credit through the end of the year, elevated Chase Dining points redemptions and up to 10X on Peloton purchases. Let’s jump into the details.
Chase Pay Yourself Back
With Pay Yourself Back, your Ultimate Rewards® points are worth up to 50% more (with the Sapphire Reserve) when you redeem them for statement credits against purchases in our current categories: grocery stores, dining (including restaurants, takeout, and eligible delivery services), and home improvement stores such as Home Depot® and Lowes®. Just choose an eligible purchase you made in the past 90 days, apply points for all or part of the purchase, and you’ll get a statement credit.
Usually cash back is only worth 1 cent per point but with this feature it is worth 1.5 cents per point (with the CSR, it is 1.25 cents per point with Ink cards, Freedom cards, or Sapphire Preferred).
Now TPG reports that this tool has been extended through September 30, 2021. Categories and eligible Chase cards are also remaining the same, so nothing is changing.
Here’s why people should consider doing this and it is also something you can use to help my college funding plan.

Chase Sapphire Reserve Travel Credit
The Chase Sapphire Reserve credit card has a $550 annual fee. You can offset it by taking advantage of the $300 credit that normally applied to travel purchases only. But, back in May, it was expanded to apply to grocery and gas station purchases as well.
To ensure that cardholders can use their travel credit, even if they haven’t yet returned to travel, Chase has made it simpler by allowing the two additional categories to count towards the credit through Dec. 31, 2021. This was set to expire on April 30 so cardholders, old and new, will have more time to use it.
Peloton Purchases
Chase Sapphire cardholders can now earn up to 10X on Peloton purchases. Here’s how it works:
- Chase Sapphire Reserve
- Earn 10x total points on Peloton Bike and Tread purchases, plus up to $120 back on an All-Access Membership. Get an immersive cardio experience that will keep you coming back for more. Through March 2022, earn 10x total points on each Peloton Bike, Tread and accessory purchase over $1,800, with a max earn of 50,000 total points.
- You can also earn up to $120 back from Chase on a Peloton All-Access Membership through December 2021.
- Chase Sapphire Preferred
- Earn 5x total points on Peloton Bike and Tread purchases, plus up to $60 back on an All-Access Membership. Get an immersive cardio experience that will keep you coming back for more. Through March 2022, earn 5x total points on each Peloton Bike, Tread and accessory purchase over $1,800, with a max earn of 25,000 total points.
- You can also earn up to $60 back from Chase on a Peloton All-Access Membership through December 2021
Chase Dining
Chase partnered with Tock last year to let you make reservations and online orders for select restaurants. You can currently redeem Ultimate Rewards points for Chase Dining purchases at a higher rate through April 30, 2021. Now that option has been extended through September 30, 2021.
Chase Sapphire Reserve cardholders can redeem Ultimate Rewards at 1.5 cents, while Chase Sapphire Preferred cardholders can redeem points at 1.25 cents per point.

[…] This new Sapphire Preferred 100K offer matches the highest offer we have seen even for the Chase Sapphire Reserve. It can be worth $1,250 or more when redeemed for travel, or with Pay Yourself Back. […]
Not sure this is extended. Rewards page on my Reserve card shows I only have 9 days left to redeem a grocery purchase.
Not a newbee but newbee to URs. Have CSP and Freedom Unlimited. If I convert the Freedom cashback to URs (e.g., $200 SUB = 20,000) do those URs pool with my CSP earned CRs (e.g., 80,000 SUB), and then do I have 100,000 URs to convert at 1.25 cents for use in 3 non-charity categories? Or do I have 80,000 convertible at 1.25 for 3 non-charity categories and 20,000 convertible at 1.0 for only charity donations?
In other words, if you have CSP, are you able to convert your URs no matter what card earned them at 1.25?
Yes you can combine your Freedom and CSP points and then they are all transferrable or bookable through the portal at the higher rate etc.
They haven’t updated the ultimate rewards dashboard, as it still says you only have 31 days to pay yourelf back on all my grocery charges.
Can I outright buy gift cards from said grocery stores and Lowe’s and still use PYB? Of course I would throw in a couple items too …
Still nothing for the Ritz card? Can’t use the $300 credit on anything else?
