Chase Freedom 2018 Calendar

Chase Freedom 2018 Calendar

One of the better no annual fee cards in my opinion is the Chase Freedom. I highly value Ultimate Rewards points and the Freedom comes with no annual fee and allows me to earn 5X points in rotating categories each quarter on up to $1,500 in spend. For example, in this quarter (Jan – Mar) I am earning 5X points on all payments through mobile wallets, gas stations and internet/cable. Hopefully most of you have already maximized the spending for this quarter, or are well on your way to complete it.

Now, there’s information on which categories will earn 5X in the second quarter of 2018. The categories are not yet posted, but there’s a few confirmations on what will be included.

April– June, 2018: Grocery Stores, Chase Pay & Paypal

  • Grocery Stores category includes most grocery stores and supermarkets. Walmart and Target is excluded.

  • Chase Pay includes purchases made using your Freedom card with your Chase Pay digital wallet during check out. Eligible purchases only qualify for a total of 5% Cash Back rewards; purchases made using Chase Pay at other current 5% quarterly categories will be awarded a total of 5% Cash Back rewards on up to $1500 in combined purchases.

  • PayPal includes purchases made using your Freedom card with your PayPal during check out. Eligible purchases only qualify for a total of 5% Cash Back rewards; purchases made using Chase Pay at other current 5% quarterly categories will be awarded a total of 5% Cash Back rewards on up to $1500 in combined purchases.

Conclusion

This should be an easy quarter to maximize will grocery stores and Chase Pay and PayPal included. Just keep in mind that it will be 5% total, so if you use your mobile wallet at a gas station for example, you will not earn 10%.

  1. What does that mean: “use Freedom card with your Paypal card at checkout?” Isn’t it a choice – use Paypal OR a credit card?
