Chase Freedom 3rd Quarter 5% Categories
Chase Freedom revealed the rotating categories for the third quarter of 2024. These are categories where you can earn 5% cash back, and if maximized can bring in $300 annually. Let’s see how these bonus categories work.
How It Works
Starting July 1 through September 30, 2024, Chase Freedom and Freedom Flex cardmembers can earn 5% cash back on up to $1,500 in combined purchases on the following:
- Gas Stations
- EV Charging
- Select Live Entertainment
- Movie Theaters
You can activate the new categories here, starting tomorrow. Must activate by September 14, 2024.
Current Bonus
New cardmembers approved for a Chase Freedom Unlimited or Freedom Flex credit card can also earn up to $800 in cashback: $200 after spending $500 on purchases during the first 3 months from account opening, plus up to $600 by earning 5% cash back on grocery store purchases (not including Target or Walmart) on up to $12,000 spent in the first year.
Other Benefits
In addition to the rotating quarterly categories and new cardmember offers, Freedom Flex cardmembers also earn 5% cash back on travel purchased through Chase’s Ultimate Rewards, 3% cash back on dining and drugstores, and 1% cash back on all other purchases. Freedom Flex cardmembers also receive World Elite Mastercard Benefits, including cell phone protection and discounts with Lyft, Boxed, Shoprunner, and more.
Conclusion
Chase Freedom’s 3rd quarter bonus categories can be useful, but probably the Gas Stations category is the only exciting one. That’s a popular category for good reason, since many people will have considerable spending on gas every month, and most gas stations also sell gift cards.
Also don’t forget to maximize the current 2nd Quarter bonus categories before the end of the month.
