Chase Freedom Bonus Categories Quarter 1 2022

Chase Freedom Bonus Categories Quarter 1 2022

Chase Freedom Flex is one of the more popular rewards credit cards. With no annual fee, 5X rotating bonus categories, 3X on dining and drugstores and points that convert to Ultimate Rewards when paired with a premium card, it is a product worth considering.

While some of their competitors like to release bonus categories well ahead of time, Chase only releases the categories a few weeks before the start of the quarter. Today we have learned which categories will earn 5% back on the Chase Freedom & Freedom Flex cards in the first quarter of 2022 on up to $1,500 in spend. Let’s take a look!

Update 3/12/22: A reminder that your last chance to activate is the 14th (Monday). Even if you completed some spending but forgot to turn it on the spend will still count as long as you do it before then. Also a reminder to wrap up the $1500 in spend by the 31st of this month.

Some Of These Offers May Have Changed

Chase Freedom January – March, 2022 Bonus Categories

Here are the just announced bonus categories for Chase Freedom Flex and the discontinued Chase Freedom card. Starting January 1 through March 31, 2022, Chase Freedom and Freedom Flex cardmembers can earn 5% cash back on up to $1,500 in combined purchases on the following:

  • eBay: From the must-have items of the moment to favorite finds from decades past, many of these items can be purchased on eBay. The opportunity to earn cash back this quarter on eBay purchases is a great reward after the high spending done during the holiday season.
  • Grocery Stores: To kick off the season of New Year’s resolutions, this category will give consumers the opportunity to earn cash back for cooking and dining at home after a season of holiday parties and dining out.

You can activate the bonus categories on this page.

Chase Freedom Flex Welcome Offer

If you don’t currently have the Chase Freedom Flex card (and aren’t over 5/24), it can be a great first card to get with Chase and it has a decent bonus right now.

  • The Offer: Earn a $200 bonus after you spend $500 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening. Pay no annual fee and receive a 0% intro APR for 15 months from account opening on purchases.

More Info.

Along with 5% rotating categories, Freedom Flex cardmembers can earn cash back on a variety of other purchases including: 5% cash back on travel purchased through Chase’s Ultimate Rewards, 3% cash back on dining and drugstores, and 1% cash back on all other purchases. In addition to these rewards, Freedom Flex cardmembers receive World Elite Mastercard Benefits, including cell phone protection and perks with Lyft, Shoprunner, and more, along with Priceless Experiences.

Conclusion

With the ability to earn 5% back at eBay or for all your grocery store purchases, there is plenty of opportunity to max out the $1,500 in spend in the first quarter of 2022. Another good quarter for those who have the Chase Freedom or Freedom Flex cards! But also don’t forget the Q4 categories and the additional top-spend category for this quarter.

What do you plan to do to max out your $1,500 in Chase Freedom Flex 5X spend?
