Chase Freedom Bonus Categories Quarter 4 2022

Chase Freedom Bonus Categories Quarter 4 2022

Chase Freedom Flex is one of the more popular rewards credit cards. With no annual fee, 5X rotating bonus categories, 3X on dining and drugstores and points that convert to Ultimate Rewards when paired with a premium card, it is a product worth considering.

While some of their competitors like to release bonus categories well ahead of time, Chase only releases the categories a few weeks before the start of the quarter. Today we have learned which categories will earn 5% back on the Chase Freedom & Freedom Flex cards in the fourth quarter of 2022 on up to $1,500 in spend. Let’s take a look!

Chase Freedom October – December, 2022 Bonus Categories

Here are the just announced bonus categories for Chase Freedom Flex and the discontinued Chase Freedom card. Starting October 1 through December 31, 2022, Chase Freedom and Freedom Flex cardmembers can earn 5% cash back on up to $1,500 in combined purchases on the following:

  • PayPal: Cardmembers will automatically earn 5% cashback on eligible purchases made when checking out with PayPal at tens of millions of online businesses.
    • Purchases made using PayPal at Walmart will only earn a total of 5% cashback.
  • Walmart: Cardmembers will automatically earn 5% cashback when shopping for gifts, groceries and more when shopping at Walmart or on Walmart.com.

You can activate the bonus categories on this page.

Chase Freedom Flex Welcome Offer

If you don’t currently have the Chase Freedom Flex card (and aren’t over 5/24), it can be a great first card to get with Chase and it has a decent bonus right now.

  • The Offer: Earn a $200 bonus after you spend $500 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening. Pay no annual fee and receive a 0% intro APR for 15 months from account opening on purchases.

More Info.

Along with 5% rotating categories, Freedom Flex cardmembers can earn cash back on a variety of other purchases including: 5% cash back on travel purchased through Chase’s Ultimate Rewards, 3% cash back on dining and drugstores, and 1% cash back on all other purchases. In addition to these rewards, Freedom Flex cardmembers receive World Elite Mastercard Benefits, including cell phone protection and perks with Lyft, Shoprunner, and more, along with Priceless Experiences.

Conclusion

With the ability to earn 5% back at Walmart, and PayPal purchases, there is plenty of opportunity to max out the $1,500 in spend in the fourth quarter of 2022. PayPal especially is a great option, as you can effectively earn 5% cash back on most online purchases.

Another good quarter for those who have the Chase Freedom or Freedom Flex cards! But also don’t forget the Q3 categories. You have to more weeks to maximize your spending.

What do you plan to do to max out your $1,500 in Chase Freedom Flex 5X spend?

  1. Well was planning to buy a lot of Walmart gift cards but been reading a lot of these gc’s being tampered with and therefore drained by someone else. I haven’t had this issue with Any Walmart gift card and I’ve had ones that have taken me years to use. So not sure if I will maximize this category. No PayPal account either.
