Citi AAdvantage Mastercard: Get 40K Miles and $250 Credit, Plus Get matched to Better Offer
Citi has a new offer for its AAdvantage Platinum Select Mastercard. You can get 40K and a $250 credit, but you can also ask to be matched to a better offer. Let’s check the details.
The Offer
- Earn 40,000 American Airlines AAdvantage bonus miles after $2,000 in purchases within the first 3 months of account opening.
- Plus, new cardmembers can also receive up to a $250 statement credit on eligible American Airlines purchases in the first 12 months of account opening.
- Annual fee $99, waived for the first 12 months
This is not really an offer worth mentioning. But these offers that have a good statement credit part are always worth a look since you can ask to get matched for better offers for the miles part.
In this particular case, you can ask to be matched to a better offer and you should receive an extra 20,000 miles. That is usually the limit that Citi will give you. That will get you a total of 60,000 American Airlines AAdvantage miles and $200 credit. However, there’s a recent issue that makes it more YMMV. Citi no longer has the secure message option on its website.
Key Terms
- American Airlines AAdvantage bonus miles are not available if you have had any Citi® / AAdvantage® card (other than an AAdvantage MileUp℠ or CitiBusiness® / AAdvantage® card) opened or closed in the past 24 months.
Conclusion
There’s been better offers in the past, but this if pretty good as well. If you get matched to a better offer, you will get a total of 60K miles and the $250 statement credit. Just keep in mind that being matched from Citi is usually likely, but not guaranteed.
