The Citi® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® World Elite Mastercard has a new signup bonus of 80,000 AAdvantage miles. This offer also has a waived annual fee for the first year, making this one of the best bonuses we have seen for this card. Let’s see the details.

The Offers

  • Limited-time: Earn 80,000 American Airlines AAdvantage® bonus miles plus travel benefits Bonus miles earned after $3,500 in purchases within the first 4 months of account opening.
  • Annual fee $99, waived for the first 12 months.
  • Offer ends 9/29/2025.
  • DIRECT LINK TO OFFER

Statement credit and American Airlines AAdvantage® bonus miles are not available if you have received a statement credit or American Airlines AAdvantage® bonus miles for a new Citi® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® account in the past 48 months.

Card Highlights

  • Earn 2 miles for every $1 spent at restaurants and gas stations
  • Earn 2 miles for every $1 spent on eligible American Airlines purchases
  • First checked bag free on domestic American Airlines itineraries for you and up to 4 travel companions on the same reservation
  • Earn a $125 American Airlines Flight Discount after you spend $20,000 or more in purchases during your card membership year and renew your card

Conclusion

The regular offer for the Citi® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® World Elite Mastercard is 50,000 or 60,000 miles. So this new offer gets you 20,000 more miles and the annual fee is waived. This is the best offer we have seen in a while, although some people have been targeted with 90,000 miles offers in recent months.

  1. Does the purchase of gift cards count toward the $3,500 required spend? This is their wording…

    AAdvantage® bonus miles
Balance transfers, cash advances, checks that access your credit card account, items and services returned for credit, unauthorized charges, interest and account fees, traveler’s checks, purchases of foreign currency, money orders, wire transfers (and similar cash-like transactions), lottery tickets, and gaming chips (and similar betting transactions) are not purchases.

I don’t see any wording that specifically precludes buying gift cards but I don’t want to be surprised!

  2. Does getting approval for the Citi Strata 12 months ago preclude you from getting the SUB for the Citi Aadvantage card? Thankyou

  3. “New account bonus is not available if you have received a new account bonus for a Citi® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® account in the past 48 months ”

Any way to confirm when you got the last sign up bonus? Citi wasn’t helpful in answering that question and I’m not sure whether I’m passed the 48-month mark.
