You can earn as much as 60,000 ThankYou bonus points for opening a new checking account, plus get an extra 25% back on all your purchases made with your Citi card. The offer was sent out by email, and you need to have received the offer directly in order to qualify. We have seen similar offers in the past and they can be a good option to earn extra ThankYou points, miles or just cashback, depending on what offer you receive. let’s get into the details.
The Offer
Earn 25% more ThankYou® Points on Purchases
- Earn 25% more ThankYou® Points on purchases with your Citi Premier Card for 12 months for opening a Citi Priority checking account, as long as your checking account remains open. For example, if you earn 1,000 ThankYou Points in a billing cycle per the terms of your Card Account, you will earn an extra 250 ThankYou Points for that billing cycle.
Earn up to 60,000 ThankYou® Points
- Earn 10,000 to 60,000 ThankYou Points when you make a minimum deposit of $5,000 to $200,000 in New-to-Citibank funds into your eligible deposit account within 30 days of account opening and maintain the minimum balance for 60 days and 1 qualifying bill payment for 2 consecutive months after account opening.

1. All Citi TY points are watermarked to the Credit Card/Bank Account that earned them; this includes Customer Service Adjustments (e.g., 5k points as an apology given by a customer service rep for a customers inconvenience – for a billing mistake, etc.)
2. It is important to note that taxable TY points *cannot* be transferred to partners. Customer Service Adjustment TY points *are* taxable, and cannot be transferred to partners. If checking-account point-bonuses are taxable (I don’t know for sure as I’ve never had a checking-account bonus), then those TY points *also cannot* be transferred to partners.
