Citi Dividend Announces 5% Categories for 3rd Quarter

Citi has released the calendar for Q3 of 2023 for the 5% Cash Back categories. These are quarterly rotating categories for Citi Dividend cardholders. The Dividend card isn’t available to the public anymore, but many people still hold on to it. Let’s see the details.

Q3 2023 Calendar

  • Gas Stations: Excludes gasoline purchases at warehouse clubs, discount stores, convenience stores or other merchants that do not use the gas station merchant category code.
  • Home Improvement Stores: Includes purchases at home supply warehouse stores, lumber and building materials stores, paint and wallpaper stores, hardware stores, nurseries – lawn and garden supply stores and paints, varnishes and supplies stores. Excludes florists and florists’ supply stores; nursery stock; wholesale construction stores; and glass stores.

Citi Dividend is similar to Discover it and Chase Freedom cards. But it is actually better as you can do all your spending in a quarter, if there’s a category you prefer. You can earn all of your cashback ($300) total any time during the year in whichever category you choose.

You can find the calendar here and register once it becomes available. You might also receive emails for 1-click activation for the new categories.

Conclusion

The 3rd quarter categories include Gas Stations and Home Improvement Stores. Both are decent categories since you can easily find gift card for sale at many eligible merchants. Plus most people normally spend a decent amount on gas each month.

But, the current quarter can be even easier to maximize the spending for the whole year and get up to $300 in cash back at Grocery Stores and Drugstores.
