Citi Double Cash Card Has a Best Ever $150 Bonus!
The Citi Double Cash card was one of the first cards to offer 2% cash back, before it became the new norm. The problem with the card was that it never had a welcome bonus, so you would have to waste a hard pull without much in return right away. We then saw a $100 bonus and now there’s a new best ever bonus on this card.
The Offer
New Offer: earn $150 cash back bonus after $500 in purchases within the first 3 months of account opening.
Card Benefits
- Earn cash back twice — 1% unlimited on purchases and an additional 1% as you pay for those purchases.
- There are also no caps on the total amount of cash back you earn.
- No Annual Fee
Eligibility
Cash back bonus is not available if you have had Citi® Double Cash card opened or closed in the past 24 months.
Conclusion
It’s nice to see an increased bonus on this credit card. If you’ve had your eyes on a flat 2% cashback card, then this is a good option. But, it might be better to go for a different Citi bonus and just product change to this card afterwards. There’s plenty of bonuses more valuable than $150.
As for 2% cash back, that’s a good rate but not the best around. Some better options might be the Chase Freedom Unlimited with 1.5X Ultimate Rewards, Amex Blue Business Plus with 2X Membership Rewards, Barclay Arrival Plus, Discover it with 2% everywhere and 10% rotating categories for first year and more.

I think this is the best card available for building up a true cash bucket to pay for non-bonus incodental expenses while traveling.
PC’d a (very) old AA Gold card to this & got rid of the $50 AF while also keeping an established trade line. I only accummulate some, not all, non-bonus spend on it but am surely using it more than I was that old Gold card!
