Shawn posted last week about the exclusive deal between Hilton and American Express which will make the latter the exclusive co-brand credit card issuer beginning in 2018. That means that Citi will no longer issue any Hilton credit cards starting in 2018 and they will likely convert existing cards into other Citi products.
Citi Has Already Removed Hilton Cards From Website
Citi looks like is not going to wait until next year to break away from its Hilton partnership. They have already removed all Hilton credit cards from their website. As a reminder, Citi currently issues two Hilton products, Citi® Hilton Honors™ Reserve Card and Citi® Hilton Honors™ Visa Signature® Card.
You can Still Apply for Citi Hilton Cards
Even though the credit cards have been removed from their card lineup on the website, there are still working links for the Citi Hilton cards. There’s currently one offer for the Citi Hilton Reserve card and two offers for the no fee Citi Hilton card, one of them without the 24 month language.
Here’s the current offers:
- Citi® Hilton HHonors Reserve Card
- Earn 2 Weekend Night Certificates and Hilton Honors Gold status after making $2,500 in purchases within the first 4 months of account opening. Apply Here.
- Citi® Hilton HHonors Visa Signature Card
- Earn 50,000 Hilton Honors bonus points after making $1,000 in purchases within the first 4 months of account opening. Apply Here.
- Earn 40,000 Hilton Honors bonus points after making $1,000 in purchases within the first 4 months of account opening. No 24-month restriction. Apply Here.
Citi Application Rules
Citi has some pretty strict rules about the frequency of credit card applications. You can only apply for one personal credit card every 8 days, you can only apply for two personal credit cards every 65 days.
Analysis
Citi has a 24 month restriction that reads as follows:
Hilton Honors Bonus Points or Weekend Night Certificates offer associated with a new card opening is not available if you have opened or closed any Citi Hilton Honors cards in the past 24 months.
That means that if you have opened or closed any Citi Hilton cards in the last 24 months, the only option for you is the 40K Points bonus on the no fee card, since that offer doesn’t have the 24 month restriction.
If the 24 month restriction doesn’t affect you, then the Citi® Hilton HHonors Reserve Card is probably the best choice. Two weekend nights could be worth well above 50K points, but you need to pay the annual fee of $85 on that card and keep in mind that the certificates are valid for twelve 12 months after the date of issuance.
Conclusion
If you’re interested in any of these cards, make sure you apply sooner than later. These are not the best offers on either card, but Citi already has removed the cards from their website and might kill these links soon as well. If it happens that a better offers pops up, you can always ask to be matched within 90 days, but that’s highly unlikely.

[…] coming back with a last bang, so to speak. So, having this disclaimer up front, this could be true: Possibly Last Chance! Best Available Offers and Working Links for Citi Hilton Cards. These cards are not available with my links. Maybe I am a moron for featuring cards that do not […]
IF you have not had any Citi Hilton cards in the last 24 months, could you apply for the 50k offer and then 8 days later apply for the 40k offer? I already have the reserve.
That should work.
I copied the link into an incognito mode browser window and it did not have 24 month language. I received a message that said pending for review, we need further information from you, call us. I will call tomorrow.
I meant 24 month language.
Your non-24 month link now shows 2 month language. I didn’t do incognito or anything.
“Hilton Honors Bonus Points offer associated with a new card opening is not available if you have opened or closed any Citi®Hilton HonorsTM card in the past 24 months”
Thatnks for pointing that out. Fixed.
Auto approved on Tues, can I apply again next Weds (8days) or do I need to wait until Thurs?
Can you use the award night a year from receiving them for a stay a year later? So, essentially they can used for a stay 2 years from now?
