CitiBusiness AAdvantage Platinum Select Card Bonus Offer
CitiBusiness / AAdvantage Platinum Select World MasterCard (that’s a mouthful) has a 50,000 AA miles bonus. That offer has been around for a while, but this specific offer doesn’t include the 24 month restriction.
The Offer
Earn 50,000 American Airlines AAdvantage® bonus miles after $3,000 in purchases in the first 3 months of account opening
Card Benefits
- Earn 2 miles for every $1 spent on select business categories including gas stations
- Earn 2 miles for every $1 spent on eligible American Airlines purchases
- Earn 1 mile for every $1 spent on other purchases
- First checked bag free on domestic American Airlines itineraries
- Group 1 Boarding on American Airlines domestic flights
- No foreign transaction fees on purchases
The card has a $95 annual fee that is waived the first year.
24 Month Restriction
Citi has tightened up rules regarding sign up bonuses. We usually see the following lamnguage on such offers:
This card is not available if the business already has a CitiBusiness® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® World MasterCard® card. Bonus miles not available if you have had any CitiBusiness® / AAdvantage® card opened or closed in the past 24 months.
But this offer doesn’t have this language so you will get the bonus even if you have opened or closed a CitiBusiness AAdvantage card in the past 24 months.
Conclusion
We’ve seen a few similar offers from Citi on AA cards, without the 24 months restrictions. The offer should last for 20 days. Another plus for this card is that Citi Business cards don’t show up on your credit reports.
Keep in mind that Citi also has a few rules regarding new credit card applications. You can only apply for one Citi business card every 60 or 95 days. They also limit you to six inquiries every 6 months.

Follow the blogs daily, but have never heard of this 6/6 rule. Do you mean that is the case for this particular AA business card or all Citi cards? Understand you are saying recon is an option, but of course instant approvals are so much easier. If this is a thing, I will certainly want to take this into account with my applications. Just so confused why this is the first reference I have seen to this practice.
This has been around for years I believe and it applies to all Citi cards, but since it’s YMMV and recon works, it’s not really raised as an issue.
Is this tied in any way to their 2/90 on personal cards?
And would you recommend closing my Cuti biz #1 after getting approved for this one?
Sorry meant 2/65 not 2/90 on above
You have to close it before applying. You cant have two of the same business CC.
It’s too bad this doesn’t have the 10% miles rebate like the personal card, otherwise I would definitely get it.
Hi DDG, Could you please clarify the 6 inquiries every 6 months? Is this from all banks or just from Citibank? Also does personal credit card inquiries count or just business ones if I’m using my personal SS#? How easy is the approval for Business Citi? Is it usually instant approval like Amex? Thanks!
Citi will deny you if you have 6 inquiries on your credit report within the last 6 months. Not a hard rule though like Chase, very YMMV and you can still get past it with recon.
i just got instantly approved. i’ve had more 9 past credit report inquiries in last 6 months. i’m thinking maybe its 6 citibank card inquiries?
If you apply for this using your business EIN do you still get a hard pull on your personal credit score?
