Coney Island Casino Proposal in NYC
Developers behind the proposed Coney Island casino have their latest plans and glitzy renderings for the gaming facility.
There are several proposals for casinos in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens and Long Island, since New York officially opened the bidding process for three downstate commercial casinos in January last year.
The New York State Gaming Commission has warned however that it is unlikely to announce who will receive those coveted licenses until late 2025.
The Coney Island proposal now offers a glimpse of what the project would look like if approved. It features a of a 500-room hotel, a 2,500-seat concert venue, high-end restaurants, 90,000 square feet of meeting and event space and a public green space. It is backed by a coalition of partners, including Saratoga Casino Holdings, Global Gaming Solutions, Legends and Thor Equities.
The project is part of a massive redevelopment proposal to turn the popular summer hot spot into a year round destination. Currently there’s not much going on there during winter months.
The new rendering and updated plans comes after a decision by the New York City Council in April to grant any developer that wins one of the three available Downstate casino licenses a zoning amendment for a facility in a high-density and commercial manufacturing district.
The Coney is just one of many proposals in and around New York City. Possible locations include Hudson Yards, midtown Manhattan next to U.N headquarters, Times Square, MGM Empire City, Willets Point in Queens, Trump Golf Curse in the Bronx, and Nassau County in Long Island.

I’m not sure that New York needs more expensive restaurants but apparently someone thought that that would help their chances.
