Daily Getaways 2016 Weeks 3-5
Daily Getaways is an annual sale of discounted hotels and other travel related bundles offered by the U.S. Travel Association. This year the sale will run from April 4, 2016 through May 6, 2016 with a different deal every day during that period. I covered the first two weeks of deals the other day. Now, the final three weeks of discounts have been announced. Let’s take a look!

Analysis
Please don’t yell at me about Circus Circus. Yes the rooms are old and terrible, but three nights including resort fee along with a $75 voucher for what is still a great restaurant, four buffets and two all day passes to the theme park is a great deal for $150! If you can score a room over a weekend (which can cost $100+ per night) then you really can get outsized value.
Of course the Hyatt points are a decent deal at just north of $.01 each, but there is a really limited amount. If you can score them at that price and if you don’t already have a ton of Ultimate Rewards and/or Hyatt points, then it is probably best to jump on them. 30,000 points for $330 gets you a night in one of their top-tier hotels that often cost $600 or more per night.
The Caesar’s “choose your hotel” package could be good if you stay at Caesar’s Palace on a weekend, but wouldn’t make much sense otherwise. I also think the Loews $325 package is interesting since it includes the Coronado Bay Resort. Depending on the date, rooms in that hotel go for a ton of money. Also, the Diamonds Resort International (timeshares) deal can be decent depending on the property you book at.
Finally, if you stay at Marriott properties quite often then a 20% discount is a no-brainer. Marriott gift cards aren’t always the easiest to get, although some people have been able to save similar amounts in the past with Amex Offers.
Conclusion
As with the first two weeks, there isn’t a ton of value in most of the deals and the ones like Hyatt which make a lot of sense are very limited. If you decide to try and buy the popular deals I wish you the best of luck. Click fast!

Does the points from IHG promotion qualify for elite status?
No, they do not count for elite status. But they also do not count towards the 60K annual purchase limit, so if you’re looking to load up for PointBreaks nights use, it’s a fairly good deal.
Any idea what these purchases code as? I have a barclay arrival + with some points I’d like to redeem on these if they code as a travel purchase
I’m not sure, but I would assume that it doesn’t code as travel.
Promise not to “yell” re. Circus Circus…. 🙂 Figured there had to be a “standard” Vegas add-on catch herein somewhere, yet apparently even via t&c, the deal includes the daily resort fee. “Includes room rate, room tax & daily resort fee.” A deal indeed….. but then I see there’s only eight available. Rots of ruck there. 🙂
Yeah I thought for sure the resort fee wouldn’t be included but it is. At $150 it is a steal, but as you say that is why there are so few.
Shawn, for the Hyatt offer when I was reading TC they specifically state number category hotel for the particular offer (i.e. $775 for 72000 points for category 4). Is it just a suggestion or somebody have to stay within hotel category obtaining those points?
In the past these have always just been points purchases although they frame it as a “free nights offer”. This is what it says in the terms as well, “Within ten business days of purchase, 72,000 Hyatt Gold Passport® bonus points will be deposited into the Hyatt Gold Passport® account provided at the time of purchase. You can then redeem these points for a future stay.”
Thank you, Shawn
Any thoughts on the Hyatt promotion? Do you think the points will be deposited in my account and I can use them as I deem fit? Or will they have to be used like the “promotion” reads?
Package includes 72,000 Hyatt Gold Passport® bonus points that may be redeemed at participating Hyatt Gold Passport® Category 4 hotels.
Any data-points?
In the past these have always been unrestricted points purchases. I believe this deal is exactly the same.
I think you’re getting the Loews Coronado Bay Resort confused with the Hotel del Coronado. Loews is nice and all but there’s nothing historic about it.
You are so right. The deal is still good for that resort, but I did mix them up. Thanks for the correction!
Any security issues with Marriott e-gift cards? I know I wouldn’t touch Hyatt e-gift cards…
Not that I have heard of.
Thx for passing this along. Hyatt GP points for about a penny each? I may be a buyer!
@Shawn – Just a clarification; the 30,000 Hyatt Gold Passport Points are $330, not $300
You sir are a saint. Thanks for catching that. Fixed!
