Insanely Cheap Delta Alaska Award Sale: From 5K Skymiles Roundtrip

Delta sent out emails to Skymiles members from multiple cities advertising roundtrip flights to Alaska for rock bottom prices. For the mere cost of 5,000 Skymiles roundtrip you can fly to multiple Alaska airports, although not all options are this cheap and prices are climbing.  I don’t expect these to last long. Some of these prices will be for basic economy which no longer gets the free change so be sure if you book.  But flying basic economy can make sense.

Details On The Offer

I received an email for flights out of Detroit (from 10K) but there are other destinations like Seattle and San Francisco listed for 5,000 miles.  There are 27 airports listed in the sale as a possible departure point.  Just click the drop down list to check the airport nearest to you.

Most of the travel dates are from end of May to mid / late June. But Delta often gives out the same prices outside the listed dates as well.

Terms of the Offer

• Round-trip Award fares for travel in Basic Economy departing from select U.S. cities to Alaska. Additional fees/restrictions/baggage charge may apply. Fares shown are round-trip. Promotional pricing ends on May 17, 2021.
• Restrictions | Advertised fares are based on real-time itinerary pricing available at delta.com. Fares are subject to availability and may change at any time prior to completion of ticketing.
• Cancellations/Refunds/Changes | Tickets are nonrefundable except in accordance with Delta’s cancellation policy. Fees may apply for downgrades/reissues and itinerary changes. Contact a Delta agent or visit delta.com  for details. For Award tickets, changes to origin, destination, routing, date and time are permitted except for Basic Economy tickets, and the mileage difference (and any applicable taxes) for the new Award ticket will apply. Members may change or cancel Award tickets without a redeposit or change fee for travel originating from North America to anywhere in the world (including flights operated by joint venture and codeshare partners), excluding Basic Economy fares. No longer will changes and cancellations made within 72 hours of departure result in loss of miles. Mileage difference, taxes and fees apply for any changes. Changes to Pay with Miles tickets are determined by the fare rules of the ticket purchased.

Final Thoughts

The prices have been moving up as space has been going away so check it out sooner rather than later. Remember to only book basic economy (BE) if you are sure on the trip since you can no longer change BE flights for free anymore.
