Delta and United Will Increase CLEAR Pricing in February
Delta Air Lines and United Airlines offer members a discount when purchasing a CLEAR membership. The discount varies from $70 off to free for top tier members. The CLEAR annual membership now has a regular price of $189.
Delta Air Lines and United Airlines plan to cut the discounts they offer, possibly starting in February. The information was sent out to some members, showing the new price for renewals.
Delta Silver, Gold, Platinum Medallion members, as well as Delta SkyMiles cardholders will have to pay $149 for a few membership starting in February. That’s up from the current price of $109. The price for basic SkyMiles members will jump from $119 to $179. Nothing is changing for Diamond Medallion and 360° members who will continue to get CLEAR for free.
United Airlines is making similar changes. Premier Silver, Gold, Platinum members, as well as United cardholders, will pay $149 going forward, up from $109. Basic MileagePlus members will pay $179, up from $119. Premier 1K and Global Services will still get complimentary CLEAR membership.
As you probably know, you can get CLEAR for free if you have the Platinum Card® from American Express, the Business Platinum Card® from American Express, or the American Express® Green Card. All three cards offer up to $189 per calendar year in statement credits. And these airline discounts were a good way to maximize this credit, as you could get an additional membership for an extra $60 and it would all be covered by one of these three cards.
