Conclusion

This is another great offer from Delta.  If you were planning travel to any of the above mentioned routes then you should be able to get them at a steal.  I am not sure how long Delta can keep up these sales but enjoy the ride while we can.

If you need more Skymiles for all of these sales American Express has a few different Delta co-branded cards that may fit your need.

  1. I wish I had seen this sale sooner, but I did score an awesome deal to Barcelona out of Phoenix for 33k miles roundtrip with skymiles. If i would have booked with American, It would still be considered high season with their award chart.

  2. Like them or not you have to be impressed with all the deals they have had with miles lately. they are killing it!

  3. The problem is that Delta has no award chart so they can charge whatever they want. Then they have a little sale with very little notice and for the lower award prices you need to fly when they want you to, where they want you to and how (class of service). I have a targeted offer for a Delta credit card but skymiles don’t give me any value so I just might pass on that DL credit card offer.

    • Skymiles usefulness depends on what type of flights you are looking at imo. They have become a lot more useful for domestic travel. But they are less valuable than others for overseas premium travel. There are still occasional sweet spots so I think it is always good to have some on hand (since they never expire). I think people focus on the award chart thing a little much. AA has an award chart – doesn’t mean you are going to find anything close to that level on flights to Europe etc. Award charts mean nothing without availability.
