Delta Vacations has a new promotion that lets you redeem SkyMiles at a rate of two cents each. That’s twice as much as the normal value and could be a great opportunity to use up your miles. What makes this even better is that you can also earn miles for the flight portion. Let’s check the details.
The Offer
For this week only, your miles count double when you book a Delta Vacations package anywhere in the world. $1,000 towards a vacation package now costs 50,000 miles instead of 100,000 miles.
The promotion is valid now through Saturday Aug. 30, when you redeem miles toward a flight and hotel package with at least a two-night stay. You can redeem up to 999,999 miles.
Update: According to Delta phone agents this offer has been extended through September 6, 2019. More info.

Conclusion
This could be a great opportunity to redeem Delta SkyMiles, especially for those who already have a large stash. But with the right deal, even transferring Amex Membership Rewards points (there’s a fee) could make sense.
With Delta Vacations will sometimes get you a cheaper flight than booking an award flight alone. So it’s definitely worth looking and playing around with dates and destinations. But it gets even better. The flights are booked as paid fares so you will earn both redeemable SkyMiles and Medallion Qualification Miles.

Hummm not working for me, for 50,000 points im only receiving $500 off.
I guess it must have ended 31 AUG, unless there is a promo code? I tried it about 10 times on different computers and on a few phones and I keep getting 50,000 points = -$500
Yeah, they can. They’re fully paid tickets in a bulk air fare bucket (usually a discounted fare like V in coach or Z in business). They earns MQM and MQD as well
Can these flights be upgraded with a global/regional upgrade?
