Discounted Flights to and From Europe

There are currently two separate deals on discounted flights to and from Europe.  GodSaveThePoints reported that there are flights from many US cities to Europe for under $400. MileValue also reported flights from a few cities in Europe to the US, in business class, starting at $1300.

Fly to Europe From the US for Under $400 Roundtrip

The discounted flights are on Iceland Air, which is Iceland’s full service airline.  The US cities that are involved in the sale are:

  • New York
  • Boston
  • Washington D.C.
  • Chicago
  • Orlando
  • Seattle

The destinations in Europe involved are:

  • London (from NYC, Boston, D.C., Chicago, Seattle)
  • Paris (from NYC, Boston, D.C., Chicago, Orlando, Seattle)
  • Helsinki (from NYC)
  • Amsterdam  (from Orlando)

There are dates scattered from November 2017 until the middle of June 2018.  Use google flights to check available dates from each airport.  Each flight connects in Reykjavik and it is possible to do a stopover in Iceland if you so choose.

Fly From Europe to the US Roundtrip for $1300 in Business Class

Some SkyTeam carriers are offering great deals on roundtrip business class flights initiating in Europe.  The flights are discounted from the following cities:

  • Stockholm
  • Gothenburg
  • Oslo

The US destination cities involved in the sale are:

  • San Fransico
  • Chicago
  • Washington D.C.

The flights are pricing out from between $1300 and $1600. There is availability through most of April and then from June until early September.  It looks like the trips must be at least six days long or over a Saturday night.  Use Google Flights to check dates and prices.

Conclusion

Both deals are far below regular rates, but the Iceland Air sale is far superior in my opinion.  It covers more destinations and has more departing cities.  The flights begins in the US which will be easier for most to use.

Both deals have a lot of availability at the moment and cover some of the prime travel months.  If you were planning on visiting one of the listed cities this upcoming Spring or Summer now may be the time to book!

  1. Very nice, My daughter just got accepted to study abroad in Amsterdam in January so the timing is great!
What would be the advice for RT vs OW when she will be there until June 2nd? We may take the opportunity to fly out there at the end of her session so I don;t ant to commit to a return flight just yet.

    • It looks like the one way costs from Orlando are around $260-350 on different airlines. You could book MCO – AMS Wednesday May 30th – June 6th for $403 or till June 12th for $384. Everything after that is $700 or above.

If it were me I would book a roundtrip that I think would work on a departing day I know would work. Then I would pick what I think would work on the way back for under $400 (if possible) and if I had to add a different return later I could and I would only be out around $100 a ticket. I think it is worth the risk.

If you are thinking of staying longer than a couple weeks though then a one way would probably be your best bet. Also if you don’t normally fly out of MCO make sure it makes sense to position a flight to there vs flying out of your regular airport.
