Discover Cardholders Get New 5% Category for 4th Quarter
If you have a Discover it card, you can currently earn 5% at Restaurants and PayPal purchases this quarter. Then next quarter, you get 5% back on Amazon and Digital Wallets payments.
But there are also some other categories where select cardholders can earn 5% cash back during the months of October and November. Discover is sending out emails offering additional categories for 5% earning. Let’s take a look at the details.
The Offer
Earn 5% cashback from 10/1/22 through 11/30/22, on up to $1,000 in purchases. Eligible categories vary, so check your emails to see if you are targeted and which category you have. The offers we have seen so fare are for:
- Grocery Stores
- Walmart
- Target
You must activate the offer through the link included in the email.
Key Terms
- Activate to earn 5% Cashback Bonus from 10/1/22 (or the date on which you activate 5%, whichever is later) through 11/30/22, on up to $1,000 in purchases.
- This offer is different from the quarterly 5% Cashback Bonus® program.
- Enrollment in this offer does not confirm enrollment in the quarterly 5% Cashback Bonus® program.

Conclusion
Grocery Stores is a great category where most people can easily spend $1,000 in two months. Walmart is also a good category where you can’t really save 5% otherwise. Target is less exciting as you can always get 5% back with your RedCard.
Check your emails and hopefully your are targeted for one of these offers. Also make sure your activate it before making any purchases.

Normally I shun the 5% Discover Cashback at Target because the Target RedCard gives an instant 5% discount. However Discover is still useful at Target to for the categories that are excluded from the RedCard discount such as gift cards (of course).
Once again, I haven’t received squat.
