Earn 50X AAdvantage Miles on Stand Up To Cancer Donations
American Airlines is bringing back its Stand Up To Cancer promotion. AAdvantage members can earn 50X when paying with an eligible American Airlines Mastercard.
Now through September 30, 2026, AAdvantage members can earn 25 bonus miles per dollar when donating at least $25 online to Stand Up To Cancer. Members who use an eligible U.S.-issued American Airlines AAdvantage Mastercard can instead earn 50 bonus miles per dollar on donations between $25 and $10,000.
The 50X promotion began August 13 and will run through September 30 at 11:59 p.m. PT, or until qualifying donations reach a combined $5 million, whichever happens first. You can see the promotion page here.
These bonus miles are redeemable AAdvantage miles only. Donations do not earn Loyalty Points and do not count toward elite status qualification or Million Miler status. American says the miles should post by December 1, 2026.
There is also an important tax consideration. Stand Up To Cancer states that donations of $75 or more are not tax deductible under this promotion. Each AAdvantage mile is valued at 3 cents for charitable deduction purposes.
Conclusion
This promotion makes the most sense for someone who already wants to support Stand Up To Cancer and values the extra AAdvantage miles as a bonus. At 50X, you’re basically buying miles at 2 cents each, which isn’t particularly attractive.
