eBay Gift Card Deals

Reselling gift cards can still be lucrative, but the money and points are with being a bulk seller. If you are, there are some decent deals on eBay today.

Gift Card Deal Roundup

Pro tip: The Southwest cards are sold by PayPal Digital Gifts so purchasing them should generate 5X Ultimate Rewards points if you pay with a Chase Ink Plus/Cash card.

You can find all of the discounted gift cards here.

Stacking

  • You cannot use eBay gift cards to purchase gift cards.
  • You will not earn eBay Bucks when purchasing gift cards.
  • You should earn portal rewards from most portals.

Security Verification Loop

Unfortunately PayPal is being PayPal with these deals and I was required to verify my account four times by text and phone before being allowed to complete the purchase. If you run into this, then keep trying and it should eventually go through. It is a frustration, but it only added about 2 minutes to the purchase process.

20% Off Coupon

In addition to the above deals, eBay is also offering 20% off select home and outdoors items with the code C20SHOPEARLY. It is somewhat limited, but there may be items of interest for some. You can find the full details of the 20% off coupon here.

Conclusion

For me the winner in this round is the Southwest $220 for $200 deal since I can re-sell those cards are breakeven (as a bulk seller) and generate 5,000 Ultimate Rewards points. The Cabela’s cards are also profitable so I’ll probably pick those up too, although I much prefer e-Gift cards which are shipped immediately and thus turned around and sold quicker.

Either way, if you are interested in this stuff then you probably want to get a bulk account sooner rather than later because public buy rates seem to be quite low. Happy shopping!

  1. yea travel brands are high risk… heard a story about a family getting pulled off a plane because the gift card they used was reported bad just in time that (I think it was SW Airlines) pulled the family off the plain and they missed their flight. Some people out there are just sheer *holes for the crap the pull. Most travel brands are trusted bulk seller only and even when they do accept them, they generally have a hold time or cool down period to wait before they can be sold.

    • It definitely depends on the sites. With high value cards like these it isn’t uncommon for them to only work with trusted bulk sellers. As always it pays to establish relationships if you want to do this more often and verify you can sell the cards before buying them.

  2. shawn or anyone,
besides TPM, do u do biz with giftcardmart as bulk seller? if so, are the rates about the same & any feedback (positive & negative)? TIA

    • They are small and don’t want the attention so I haven’t posted it here, but Plastic Merchant is a seller that is working with many in the miles & points community and I have heard great things.
