Is Inbox Dollars 5% eBay Cashback Dead? It Looks Like It!

eBay’s Disappearance from Inbox Dollars

A couple of months ago I wrote about a new shopping portal called Inbox Dollars. For awhile they have been offering 5% cashback on eBay purchases. Since the transactions can take months to post with Inbox Dollars, many people were using Top Cashback’s match feature successfully, however Top Cashback stopped matching Inbox Dollars awhile ago.

Since then I have continued to use Inbox Dollars with the hope that everything will track alright. Then this morning I logged into my Inbox Dollars account before making a purchase and the eBay link is nowhere to be found. I always accessed it under the “Deals” menu and then “Shopping”. I am assuming that is the only place you could find it. Here is what the screen looks like as of this morning:

I believe it used to be in the 2nd row where the Disney store is now. Before I declare this portal bonus dead, I wanted to put it out there to you the readers. First off, do you see the same screen as I do when logging into Inbox Dollars and second, was there another search function or area of the site where you could find the eBay link?

I think we all knew 5% back was too good to last, but I for one will be sad to see it go.

  1. Well, I can confirm that as of exactly 11:53 pm last night here in California the ebay link was still there. I know this because I was buying a gold coin through the ebay deals page and wanted to make sure I bought before midnight (ebay operates PST zone).

What’s funny is I’m not sure I even care, which sounds silly considering a generous 5% back. I’ve been using them ever since topcashback ended their matching policy and like everyone here, I have to have even one purchase be confirmed. Other noteworthy point is they issue a 1099 form for $600+ in earnings per year so there’s definitely a point in which we’d need to strongly reconsider our portal strategy. Based on a discussion I’ve had with others, the best guess as to why they issue a 1099 is because part of their business model is based on earning money from offers and deals, NOT just cash back portal purchases. What it boils down to is they’re not strictly giving rebates on your purchases, which like credit card points isn’t taxable because.

  2. About 30 minutes ago I went through the Ebay link. They must have just removed it as it is now gone. Hopefully they’ll honor all of the purchases before this.

  3. LOL, I strongly suspect the deal is a SCAM anyways. No way to track purchases and none have shown up under my account. Giant phishing expedition?
